Today, we have a very special guest with us, Takiyah Smith, a published author and publishing consultant, here to talk about her new book “I Love Me! Colorful and Creative: Empowering Coloring Book Series for Girls and Boys.” Welcome Takiyah!

Takiyah: Thank you for having me, Hollis. I’m excited to be here.

Hollis: We’re thrilled to have you! Let’s jump right in. What inspired you to create the “I Love Me!” coloring book series?

Takiyah: Well, as a mother and an advocate for children’s empowerment, I wanted to create a tool that would not only entertain children but also inspire them to love and appreciate themselves. I believe that self-love and self-acceptance are vital for children’s mental health and overall well-being.

Hollis: That’s wonderful. Can you tell us a bit about the target audience for the coloring book series?

Takiyah: The coloring books are designed for girls and boys between the ages of 5-10, but really, anyone can enjoy them. The messages and illustrations are universal and can resonate with people of all ages.

Hollis: I love that inclusivity. What are some of the specific messages that you hope to convey through the coloring book series?

Takiyah: I aim to promote self-love, confidence, diversity, and creativity through the coloring pages and affirmations included in the books. It’s important for children to see themselves reflected in the media they consume and to feel proud of who they are.

Hollis: Absolutely. And what impact do you hope the “I Love Me!” coloring book series will have on its readers?

Takiyah: I hope that the coloring books will serve as a tool for children to practice self-care, self-expression, and mindfulness. I want them to feel empowered and inspired to be their authentic selves and to embrace their uniqueness.
